Construction Update on the Springs At Walnut Creek

by Garreth on December 23, 2011

You may have seen the signs for the Springs at Walnut Creek as you’ve driven past Walnut Creek on I35 near Yager Lane. They have been developing the land and the first homes are already sold – some of the popular green belt lots facing the creek were the first pieces of real estate to be snapped up!

I went over a few weeks ago as the models were being completed to tour the development and it promises to be interesting. The price point for a new energy efficient detached house is very good – starting from $211k for homes in the first phase of construction. The location is pretty handy – you get Pflugerville schools while still being within the Austin City Limits, and the neighborhood is very close to Samsung’s new plant.

The green belt is a big plus giving a rural feel to an urban neighborhood, and the houses match the ticket too – they’re interesting modern floorplans built with David Weekley’s advanced framing technology. This is essentially a thicker outer frame than is currently required by code, which gives opportunity for increased rigidity and more insulation. The homes are sold with the Environments For Living guarantee on utility bills – such is the confidence of the builder that they can make an energy efficient home.
